KINGSTON 64MB RAM Memory Expansion Chip- [memory] Help Please-Which RAM Should I Use?
Helping a friend (long distance) with an old PII 233-333 computer running W98 SE.Trying to upgrade his woefully inadequate 64MB of RAM. I had him run the scan at Crucial.com to get an idea of type and amount of RAM for his system. The Crucial scanner comes up blank. It can't decipher his board or RAM information.I had him look at the board and through his info I discovered it's a Lucky Star 6AXL2 rev 1.4 motherboard. The info says that the board has three slots, max RAM 384, and type is PC100.His current RAM, 64MB, I'm quite sure is PC66.Should I have him order 128MB of PC 100 and remove the 64MB of PC66, or should he order 128MB of PC66?Thanks :)The RAM, or Random Access Memory, is where the operating system, application programs, and data in current use are kept on the computer. Though it reads faster than any other storage device, the data stays only as long as the computer is running. All the data is loaded into RAM, usually from the hard disk, once the computer is switched on. As soon as the computer is switched off, the RAM loses its data.- Samsung develops new memory chip (AP)
