I'm running an IBM Thinkpad R51, 1.6Ghz Centrino, 512 (2x256) MB RAM and 60GB HDD 5400RPM.The system runs smooth but I do feel like it could be a little better. Start up takes longer than I remember and i'm very consistent with removing unused programs/defragging/malware & spyware scans/etc.I've been considering purchasing a Crucial 1GB DDR PC2700 stick from NewEgg ($129). Would it be worth it to upgrade to 1GB and sell the 2 sticks of 256? The system is used for basic browsing/e-mail and word processing. Nothing to memory intensive but I just like to have a smooth running system.Opinions?- Desktop Pc Memory Wanted (birmingham)
Hi I have a computer but it is very slow. My computer currently has 64mb of ram.I dont have much money to upgrade it. So I was wondering if anybody out there would donate a memory chip to me. Thanks for reading the post. I have a budy in texa that has a problem,and i'm stumped in ohio.he has a dell someting or another,im fishing for more info from him as we speak. anyway, he had 256meg of ram, dont know the speed yet.He bought a gig of what he says is "faster" ram.I talked him through the install on the phone.When he powers on he gets some kind of drive 1 error,and has to hit an f key to continue.I had him check all cables to see if he bumped something.All drives work.I asked if the ram was the same speed.He said this was faster.Could this be the problem? Once i installed ram and had to change a setting somewhere for something but forget what and where it was. thanks for anyhelp or advice ya'll might have. Brian
